Según reseñó el portal TUDN.mex (Televisa Univision Deportes Network), La Vinotinto y el «Tri» ya tienen cerrado un amistoso para disputarlo en el mes de abril en Orlando, Estados Unidos. Dicho amistoso no formará parte de las Fechas FIFA. Venezuela y México no se enfrentan desde el 5 de junio del 2019; el partido acabó 3-1 a favor de los mexicanos y Jhon Murillo marcó el único tanto venezolano.
México aún no tiene asegurado su boleto para el Mundial de Qatar 2022, por lo tanto, buscará rivales para ir preparándose y lograr la clasificación. Además, aspiran a disputar una gira por Europa cuando estén clasificados.
Venezuela volverá a jugar en las Eliminatorias Sudamericanas el próximo 24 de marzo ante Argentina en el Estadio Monumental en Buenos Aires.
