Salas de cine registran disminución de 91,6% de espectadores en los últimos dos años

Desde su reactivación en enero, después de casi un año cerrada, el sector de salas de cine experimenta un proceso de recuperación “lento, pero creciente”, del regreso del público a las salas, de acuerdo con lo dicho por el presidente de la Asociación Venezolana de Exhibidores de Películas (AVEP) Abdel Güerere, durante una entrevista para Banca y Negocios.

“Hasta el 30 de septiembre han asistido a las salas, 844.000 espectadores en estos nueve meses, en el mismo periodo del año 2019, enero-septiembre, asistieron 8.800.000; de manera que ha habido una disminución del 91,6% de espectadores este 2021 si se compara con el año 2019” explicó Güerere.

El representante de la AVEP aclaró que a pesar de que la cantidad de espectadores este año es menor que en 2019, el número de personas que asisten al cine se incrementa todos los meses, lo que muestra una tendencia al crecimiento paulatino de espectadores.

Explicó que esta merma se debe a al falta de combustible, sobre todo en el interior del país, lo que dificulta que las personas se trasladen a los cines, sumado al deterioro del sistema eléctrico, que a su vez está asociado a la falta de Internet que impide acceder a la cartelera de cine a través de esta vía.

Como la mayoría de los sectores, los cines reportaron pérdidas cuantiosas, después de 11 meses de paralización, cuando hubo que cubrir gastos necesarios como el pago del personal, alquiler de las salas, electricidad e impuestos municipales; sin embargo, en estos momentos, el presidente de AVEP asegura que hay un flujo de caja positivo, pero que todavía no se equipara a los egresos y los gastos en los que se incurre por la reactivación de las salas.

“Estamos trabajando más que pensando en la rentabilidad, estamos pensando en la sustentabilidad; es decir, que haya salas de cine abiertas, de tal manera que la gente pudiera asistir a ver la película de su preferencia, pero todavía no se ha logrado el punto de equilibrio entre ingresos y egresos” precisó Güerere.

Esquema 7+7 y la promoción de las películas

El presidente de la Asociación Venezolana de Exhibidores de Películas, Avep, Abdel Güerere, señaló que el esquema 7+7 impacta negativamente al sector, principalmente en el tema promocional.

“Como las películas se estrenan los viernes, se hace el esfuerzo promocional de la película y empieza a generarse el mecanismo llamado boca-oído, la recomendación de la propia gente, y cuando ya quieren ir la semana siguiente, no pueden hacerlo. Eso impacta negativamente en el desarrollo natural de la visibilidad de la película, pasa una semana y hay que volver hacer el esfuerzo promocional para recordar que la película fue estrenada, con lo cual, el mecanismo ha sido difícil de sobrellevar”, explica.

Además destacó que hasta el mes de septiembre, en el país, se han estrenado 54 películas de manera oportuna, al mismo tiempo que en otros países.

Plataformas streaming: Un complemento para la industria

Durante el 2020, considerado “el momento más fuerte de la pandemia”, hubo un incremento en el consumo de las plataformas streaming, según estimaciones de la Asociación de Exhibidores de Películas, que ha disminuido con la vuelta a la “normalidad”.

“Siempre existirán nuevas formas de difusión de material audiovisual. Si algo ha demostrado esta cultura es que estas nuevas formas de expresión no son sustitutivas entre si, sino complementarias” sostuvo Güerere.

Un fin de año con “mayor disponibilidad”

La Asociación de Exhibidores de Películas espera que con la flexibilización de la cuarentena durante los meses noviembre y diciembre, aunada al pago de bonos y utilidades, los espectadores tengan mayor disponibilidad para el entretenimiento cinematográfico en un ambiente con todas las medidas de bioseguridad.

“En noviembre y diciembre vamos a mantener las normas de bioseguridad con el mismo nivel de intensidad que hemos tenido estos 9 meses: medir la temperatura, gel alcoholado, aforo menor al 40%, y distancia física”, enfatizó el presidente de AVEP.

Recientemente, la Superintendencia de Defensa de los Derechos Económicos y Sociales (Sundde) cerró las salas de Cinex, una de las dos cadenas principales de exhibición, en dos centros comerciales de Caracas por supuestamente cobrar sus tarifas a una tasa de cambio superior a la reportada por el Banco Central de Venezuela (BCV).

La exministra de Comercio Eneida Laya ordenó inspeccionar al resto de la cadena. El tema aparentemente ya fue superado de manera satisfactoria para el gobierno.
