Muguruza no pudo dar continuidad al buen juego desplegado en el primer set y la tenista francesa consumó la remontada ante la española, que dispuso de hasta dos puntos de partido en la tercera manga.
La tenista española no ha podido recuperar el gran nivel ofrecido a principios de temporada, donde consiguió la victoria en el torneo de Dubái ante la checa Barbora Krejcikova, según detalla EFE.
Cornet se enfrentará en semifinales a la quinta cabeza de serie, la suiza Belinda Bencic, tras vencer (6-4, 4-6 y 7-6(4) a la rusa Ekaterina Alexandrova.
