Cuatro leyendas del béisbol reciben menciones honoríficas del premio Luis Aparicio

Cuatro leyendas del béisbol de Grandes Ligas recibirán menciones honoríficas del premio Luis Aparicio en su décimo octava edición: Miguel Cabrera, Edgardo Alfonzo, Jesús Marcano Trillo y Francisco Rodríguez.

El Consejo Consultivo del premio Luis Aparicio decidió activar la condición especial en la cual se reserva el derecho de otorgar, de manera extraordinaria, una o más menciones honoríficas a uno o más venezolanos que hayan logrado algún hecho relevante en las Grandes Ligas, que fue lo que precisamente logró este cuarteto durante la temporada de 2021.

“Miguel Cabrera consiguió una hazaña nunca antes vista en el béisbol venezolano al convertirse en el primer venezolano en el Club de los 500 cuadrangulares”, destacó Mikel Pérez, presidente de Line Up Internacional, empresa creadora del premio Luis Aparicio. “Esa es razón más que suficiente para recibir una mención honorífica”.

Cabrera es el mayor ganador del premio Luis Aparicio en la historia con cinco estatuillas obtenidas, en las temporadas de 2005, 2011, 2012, 2013 y 2015, pero será la primera vez que recibe una mención honorífica.

“En el caso de Edgardo Alfonzo, Jesús Marcano Trillo y Francisco Rodríguez, pese a no ser peloteros activos, fueron inmortalizados en las organizaciones de los Mets, Filis y Cerveceros, por lo que el Consejo Consultivo decidió darles la Mención Honorífica como sucedió en el pasado con figuras como David Concepción, Melvin Mora y Bob Abreu, también por méritos en sus carreras que le permitieron ser parte de la historia de un club de Grandes Ligas”, recalcó Pérez.
