Pese a las objeciones que en su momento presentaron organizaciones de derechos humanos y la propia ONU, el gobierno de Sebastián Piñera en Chile anunció este miércoles que retomará las expulsiones masivas de migrantes en situación irregular, en su mayoría venezolanos, que ingresan por pasos no habilitados.
El ministro del Interior, Rodrigo Delgado, anunció la reanudación de los vuelos de expulsión, según destaca AFP este miércoles. Entre febrero y agosto de este año fueron deportadas 547 personas en cuatro vuelos, mientras que durante 2020 fueron expulsados 1.365 migrantes, violando todos los acuerdos internacionales sobre el caso.
El último vuelo de deportación que realizó el gobierno fue en agosto pasado, luego que la ONU expresara su preocupación por esta medida, y que tribunales chilenos detuvieran estas expulsiones tras admitir decenas de recursos de amparo auspiciados organizaciones que las critican porque, a su juicio, vulneran los derechos de los migrantes.
“Hemos tomado nota de las recomendaciones, hemos revisado nuestros procesos, somos respetuosos de los fallos, pero en ese contexto durante las próximas semanas vamos a retomar las expulsiones”, dijo Delgado, en declaraciones a la prensa en Santiago.
El anuncio se produce también en medio de un creciente aumento del ingreso de migrantes por pasos clandestinos en la frontera con Bolivia, en el norte chileno, por donde han cruzado 23.673 migrantes en los primeros siete meses de 2021, casi 7.000 más que en todo el año pasado.
“Chile es hoy día un destino migratorio atractivo para muchos (por) la situación sanitaria, las vacunas (en contra del covid-19), la situación económica, la necesidad de emplear a personas que, muchas veces, no se están empleando en distintos rubros”, afirmó el ministro.
La localidad chilena de Colchane, a unos 3.650 metros de altitud, concentra el mayor número de migrantes que cruzan el inhóspito Altiplano, donde las autoridades locales sostienen que a inicios del año sufrió un colapso por la llegada de miles de indocumentados y donde al menos han muerto 11 migrantes por las duras condiciones climáticas de la zona.
“En esto quiero ser muy claro, si uno revisa la estadística mientras pudimos expulsar nos fue bien con el flujo migratorio en la frontera con Colchane. Lamentablemente cuando tuvimos que dejar de expulsar subió el ingreso clandestino”, explicó Delgado.
Solo en agosto, 331 extranjeros, de ellos 260 venezolanos, llegaron hasta Colchane. El resto son de nacionalidad boliviana, peruana y colombiana, precisaron las autoridades.
