Yulimar tendrá una presentación más este viernes antes de viajar a Tokio

Este viernes 9 de julio Yulimar Rojas atacará de nuevo el récord mundial al aire libre del salto triple, cuando afronte en el estadio Luís II de Mónaco la tercera parada de la Liga Diamante en el marco del Mitin Herculis, última competencia de la tetracampeona mundial antes de los Juegos Olímpicos Tokio 2020.

Rojas verá acción a las 13:05 hora Venezuela y se enfrentará ante a su compañera del team Pedroso, la española Ana Peleteiro, Liadagmis Povea (Cuba), Shanieka Ricketts y Kimberly Williama (Jamaica), Nubia Soares (Brasil), Patricia Mamona (Portugal), la finlandesa Senni Salminen, Paraskevi (Grecia) y Dariya Derkach (Italia).

La cuatro veces campeona mundial y plusmarquista bajo techo del salto triple, fue una de las atletas elegidas por la organización de la Liga Diamante para compartir sus experiencias previas a la cita francesa, el nivel de su estado físico, su perspectiva rumbo a Tokio 2020 y otros tópicos relevantes sobre el atletismo mundial.

“Estamos muy bien y muy contentos de la gran forma y del gran inicio de temporada que tenemos”, admitió la caraqueña de 25 años a la prensa, antes de asegurar que “estamos en la mejor forma deportiva de mi vida camino a los Juegos Olímpicos”.

Rojas ha concretado este 2021 cuatro victorias en Ibiza (15.14), Andújar (15.43), Doha (15.15) y Madrid (15.34 y 15.19), todas con vuelos por encima de los 15 metros y que la ubican a sólo siete centímetros de la marca mundial, lo que le ha permitido afianzar su regularidad en esta distancia, en una búsqueda permanente por superar los 15.50 de la ucraniana Inessa Kravets, actual récord al aire libre.

“Esta temporada ha habido saltos nulos que han sido muy largos y eso me da la confianza de que las cosas van a salir y que todo el trabajo que hemos hecho nos permitirá que las cosas se den en el momento que se tengan que dar”, refirió la subcampeona olímpica en Río 2016 sobre sus posibilidades de batir la plusmarca a cielo abierto que data desde 1995.

Mónaco será la última prueba de Rojas antes de partir a la capital nipona, donde espera materializar el trabajo de los últimos cinco años bajo la batuta del estelar saltador de longitud, el cubano Iván Pedroso.

“Estoy tranquila porque el año va en gran forma y las marcas están saliendo. Espero dar lo mejor de mí en lo que queda del 2021 para ir a los Juegos Olímpicos más firme aún y conquistar el oro olímpico. Quiero darle esa alegría a Venezuela que confía en mí, y sabe que hay una aspiración bastante grande”.

Yulimar también hizo énfasis en el formato shootout o muerte súbita que define a los ganadores en la prueba del triple salto de la Liga Diamante.

“Estamos contrariados porque esto viene pasando desde hace un par de años, que tratan de cambiar los intentos de los saltos. Sería mejor mantener los seis saltos y no cinco más el final. Para mí es una regla distinta y que nos hace ver que lo que hacen no está bien. Espero que en los próximos años se pueda volver a los seis saltos. Es lo mejor”, cerró.

La última vez que la venezolana compitió en el estadio Luis II fue el 14 de agosto del 2020 cuando concretó un vuelo de 14,27 y se coronó campeona.
