Yulimar Rojas: Conquistaré los 16 metros porque nací para saltarlos

Nada más proclamarse este domingo tricampeona mundial del triple salto en sala, con un nuevo récord mundial (15,74 m), la venezolana Yulimar Rojas, 26 años, no se conforma y apunta ya a superar una legendaria barrera: “Nací para saltar 16 metros”, dijo en Belgrado.

Con ese salto de 15,74 m, Rojas no logró su tercer título mundial indoor (tras los logrados en 2016 y 2018), sino que mejoró en 7 centímetros su récord del mundo obtenido en los Juegos de Tokio el verano pasado y cada vez se acerca más a la barrera de los 16 metros, que ninguna atleta ha logrado hasta ahora.

“Hoy ha sido como un sueño para mí”, declaro la venezolana con la medalla dorada al cuello.

“Quería venir aquí con mi entrenador (el cubano Iván Pedroso) y divertirme. Estaba en muy buena forma y sentía que podía hacer grandes cosas”, añadió la mejor atleta de 2020, reseñó AFP.

Rojas se mostró encantada con el resultado obtenido en Belgrado: “Estoy muy feliz porque logré todo lo que quería y más”, aunque añadió que no sabía si su récord era “pura magia o una casualidad”.

“Podría haber sucedido en cualquier salto, pero sucedió en el último. ¡Parece un poco como un salto por la gloria!”.

Cuestionada sobre la posibilidad de saltar más allá de los 16 metros, la venezolana recordó: “Nada es imposible, ese es mi lema”.

“Tengo dos motivaciones en la vida: llegar a los 16 metros y hacerlo mejor que mi entrenador, la leyenda Iván Pedroso”, añadió en referencia a los cinco títulos mundiales bajo techo y cuatro al aire libre en el salto de longitud del mítico saltador cubano.

“Lo conquistaré. Nací para saltar 16 metros y esto es lo que me inspira a ayudar a inspirar a otros… Sé que tengo 16 metros en mis piernas y ese es mi objetivo”, insistió entusiasmada.

Un metro a la segunda 

La superioridad absoluta de la venezolana en esta disciplina, de la que también es doble campeona mundial al aire libre (2017 y 2019), quedó de nuevo en evidencia, distanciando en un metro a la medalla de plata, la ucraniana Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (14,74 m).

“Me alegro mucho que los atletas ucranianos, a pesar de estar librando una guerra, puedan venir aquí y puedan demostrar que pueden lograr lo que quieren, que puedan incentivar a toda la población de Ucrania que los sueños se hacen realidad y que están viviendo un momento difícil, pero van a salir de ello”, declaró Rojas sobre la medalla de Bekh-Romanchuk, la segunda de la delegación de Ucrania, un país que está sufriendo la invasión de Rusia, “algo impensable en este siglo”, según la venezolana.

Rojas también tuvo palabras para sus compatriotas. “No son buenos momentos para el país, pero gracias al trabajo y a mi valor puedo conquistar esta medalla para mi país y sé que son muy felices de que cada día pueda demostrar de qué estamos hechos los venezolanos”.

Sobre la posibilidad de que compita también en el salto de logitud, Rojas recordó que “siempre es difícil por horarios el doblar en un campeonato. Ya me pasó en Tokio y aquí también. Siempre habrá la oportunidad y el deporte te da la chance de demostrar que como atleta no tienes límites”.

“Sé que llegará el momento en el que pueda hacerlo y si es este año en Oregon, mucho mejor”, declaró en referencia al Mundial al aire libre que se disputará en Eugene (Estados Unidos) en julio próximo.

Pero insistió en que “desistí aquí de competir en el salto de longitud y a cambio he logrado el récord del mundo del triple salto. Dios o la vida a veces te quita cosas para darte otras”.
