El equipo de atletas zulianos que ganaron medallas y diplomas en los Juegos Paralímpicos Tokio 2020 y su entrenador, fueron condecorados con las Órdenes Cacique Nigale y Ciudad de Maracaibo, en su Primera y Única Clase, por el alcalde de Maracaibo, Willy Casanova, y el presidente del Concejo Municipal, José Sierra, en un emotivo acto celebrado la noche del miércoles 15 de septiembre en la plaza Bolívar del oeste de la ciudad.
Las velocistas Lisbeli Vera, las hermanas Linda y Alejandra Pérez, Greilyz Villarroel, el entrenador Isidoro Barthelemy y los guías Álvaro Casiani y Markinson Manzanilla recibieron de manos de las autoridades municipales el reconocimiento por su histórico logro, que llenó de júbilo a toda Venezuela, pues el grupo aportó cinco de las siete medallas alcanzadas por Venezuela en la cita japonesa, lo que representa más del 71 por ciento del total.
“Ellas se ganaron el reconocimiento, el amor y el cariño del pueblo venezolano, zuliano y maracaibero. Es una de las cosas más hermosas, ustedes se robaron el corazón de nosotros y eso merece el aplauso de todos. También para el entrenador y los guías porque eso fue producto del trabajo compartido”, expresó al alcalde Willy Casanova.
“Cuando nos reencontramos en enero de este año, luego del receso por la pandemia, el profe (Isidoro Barthelemy) nos dijo: ‘Nos vamos a traer todas las medallas’ y yo le dije que lo íbamos a apoyar en todo lo posible. Nos quedamos boquiabiertos porque de las siete medallas de Venezuela, cinco son responsabilidad de este compatriota que está sentado con nosotros” apuntó Casanova.
El alcalde resaltó los logros de cada una de ellas y ellos y felicitó especialmente a Lisbeli Vera porque, aparte de ser la máxima medallista, estaba celebrando su cumpleaños número 20.
El concejal José Sierra también felicitó al grupo y exaltó su logro en la máxima cita del deporte universal. “A los Juegos Olímpicos solo van los mejores del mundo y ganar una medalla es toda una hazaña para la posteridad. El reconocimiento es al esfuerzo triplicado en estas mujeres zulianas que, junto con el del entrenador Isidoro Barthelemey, nos llenan de orgullo”, dijo.
Lisbeli ganó dos medallas de oro y una de plata (categoría T47), Linda Pérez obtuvo una presea de oro y dos diplomas olímpicos (categoría T11), Alejandra Pérez medalla de bronce y diploma olímpico (categoría T12) y Greilyz Villarroel tres diplomas olímpicos (categoría T12).

El entrenador Isidoro Barthelemy, artífice de la cosecha zuliana, agradeció el apoyo recibido por parte de la Alcaldía y de todos los que le ayudaron en esta dura lucha, que culminó en el mayor logro de su vida como técnico del paratletismo.
”Cuando trabajamos con dedicación, amor y entrega este es el resultado y creo que podemos lograr todo lo que nos proponemos en la vida. El Zulia obtuvo el 100 por ciento de las medallas de oro, el 50 por ciento de las medallas de plata y bronce y el 71,4 ppr ciento del total alcanzado. Ese es el regalo para Venezuela y hoy pudo decir que participé en los juegos de la historia”, dijo el estratega de origen cubano.
“Como técnico yo había ganado plata en Beijing 2008 y Rio 2016, pero tenía el sueño de ganar oro y quería escuchar el himno nacional en unos Juegos. Esta vez se me cumplió y lo escuché tres veces”, destacó Barthelemy.
Lisbeli Vera, consagrada como la reina mundial de la velocidad al ganar dos medallas de oro y una de plata, agradeció a Dios por el logro y dedicó sus triunfos a toda Venezuela.
“Mis medallas se las dedico a todas las personas que me han estado acompañando, a Dios, a mi entrenador y a los que estuvieron a mi lado en todo momento. Gracias a todos”, dijo la cumpleañera.
