«La ciudad está de pie, la ciudad comienza a recuperar su actividad económica y esto en medio de esta celebración que tanto amamos los mexicanos. Este Día de Muertos representa muchas cosas para la ciudad», dijo la jefa de Gobierno de la Ciudad de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, en el evento de presentación de las celebraciones.
La mandataria consideró que el anuncio es especialmente relevante debido a que, en primer lugar, en 2020 no se pudieron realizar festividades masivas pero ahora, con casi el 100 % de la población de más de 18 años vacunada con al menos una dosis en la capital, cambió el panorama y es seguro volver a celebrar aunque con medidas sanitarias.
En segundo lugar destacó que este año todos los eventos irán dedicados a las miles de personas fallecidas por COVID-19, como una manera de rendirles homenaje.
De esta manera, el tradicional desfile del 31 de octubre lleva por nombre «Celebrando la vida».

El Desfile del Día de Muertos del 31 de octubre regresa a lo que era antes de 2020 pero también trae novedades como la inclusión de cuatro artistas «de talla internacional», la ampliación del recorrido y otras medidas, principalmente enfocadas en reducir la posibilidad de contagios de coronavirus.
Recorrerá 8,7 kilómetros, desde el céntrico Zócalo capitalino y hasta el Campo Marte, paseando por gran parte del Paseo de la Reforma 12 carros alegóricos, alebrijes y calaveras monumentales, entre otros, guiados por mil 80 participantes.
Durante cinco horas la capital recobrará el espíritu de un día tan relevante en México y reconocido en todo el mundo, del mismo modo que lo hará la Megaprocesión de las Catrinas el mismo día, protagonizada por la ciudadanía que se disfraza conforme a esta figura tan mexicana.
