Con esta victoria, el equipo entrenado por Pep Guardiola toma el mando de la Premier con 35 puntos, uno más que Liverpool y dos por encima del Chelsea.
Guardiola se mostró contento por el juego de su equipo, pero aseguró que sus hombres «deberían haber matado antes el partido».

Chelsea paga los errores en defensa

Con esta victoria, el Newcastle abandona el puesto de colista, aunque con 10 puntos empata con Burnley y el Norwich City, que el domingo frente al Tottenham tendrá la ocasión de abandonar la última plaza.
Southampton (14º) y Brighton (9º) empataron a un gol en otro encuentro del sábado, un resultado que permite a ambos equipos de mantenerse, por ahora, fuera de la zona de peligro.
