El presidente de la República, Nicolás Maduro, declaró la noche de este martes que Venezuela está «muy pendiente» de la variante ómicron y el Gobierno está enfocado en fortalecer las políticas de prevención y de inmunización de la población.
Aseguró que Venezuela ya tiene las dosis necesarias para vacunar al 100 % y destacó que siguen llegando lotes de fármacos para reforzar aún más los planes de inmunización contra el COVID-19.
Respecto a la detección de la variante ómicron del Covid-19 en el continente americano, el presidente Maduro dijo: «Seguimos muy pendientes, estamos en comunicación con centros científicos y con la Organización Mundial de la Salud, no tenemos ningún informe científico internacional veraz que diga la amenaza real de esta variante«.
Hasta el momento solo se han emitido «declaraciones políticas y alarmas«, agregó.
Al señalar que su Gobierno mantiene las políticas de protección, el Jefe de Estado explicó que, mientras esperan los resultados científicos, «hemos reforzado los protocolos de ingreso al país por aeropuertos, puertos y fronteras para cuidarnos«.
«Vamos a proteger al pueblo y vamos a seguir adelante«, afirmó el mandatario, al tiempo que expresó que «en cada uno de ustedes está el arma en contra de estas variantes: el tapabocas, el distanciamiento, cuidarse, vacunarse«.
