El canciller de Venezuela, Félix Plasencia, pidió este miércoles a las autoridades españolas «que cumplan» con las extradiciones que ha solicitado «oficialmente» el país, si bien no aclaró a qué casos se refiere.
Aprovecho para que las autoridades jurisdiccionales, judiciales, del Reino de España respeten las exigencias del ordenamiento legal venezolano y extraditen a los delincuentes que escapan y huyen de la justicia venezolana y residen hoy en aquel país, dijo Plasencia durante una declaración a los medios.
Pese a que no se refirió a ningún caso concreto, el Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) solicitó a España en mayo de 2021 la extradición del opositor Leopoldo López, quien, en octubre de 2020, abandonó su país de forma clandestina, a través de la frontera con Colombia.

La Sala de Casación Penal del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ), declaró procedente solicitar al Reino de España, la extradición activa del ciudadano Leopoldo Eduardo López Mendoza, para el fiel cumplimiento del resto de su condena en territorio venezolano, dijo la corte en un comunicado en aquel momento.
En noviembre pasado, el presidente Nicolás Maduro dijo que las autoridades de su país iban a solicitar a España la extradición de la persona que ordenó un supuesto plan para sabotear las elecciones regionales y locales celebradas el 21 de ese mes y que su Gobierno identificó como William Sánchez.
Debe saberlo el Gobierno de España: le vamos a solicitar oficialmente, legalmente, al Gobierno de España, la captura y extradición de este autor intelectual, de quien dio las ordenes, afirmó Maduro en esa ocasión sin mencionarle directamente a Sánchez.
Tras hacer pública la solicitud, explicó también que iba a pedir «la investigación y captura de Leopoldo López como jefe de esta banda terrorista».
Entre los casos más destacados, el fiscal general Tarek William Saab informó en septiembre que su país había solicitado a España la extradición del exgeneral chavista Hugo Carvajal, conocido como «el Pollo» Carvajal, quien fue capturado en Madrid el pasado 10 de septiembre.
Carvajal está acusado en el país caribeño por los delitos de traición a la patria, conspiración continuada, financiación del terrorismo y asociación, recordó entonces Saab.
