La Defensoría del Pueblo de Venezuela y el Programa Conjunto de Naciones Unidas sobre el VIH/sida (Onusida) en el país firmaron este lunes un convenio para el cumplimiento de los derechos humanos de las personas con virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) o con Sida.
«El Defensor del Pueblo Alfredo Ruiz y la Directora de Onusida en Venezuela, Regina López, firman convenio para un plan de trabajo conjunto en la promoción, defensa y vigilancia de los DDHH de las personas con VIH/sida», publicó la Defensoría en su cuenta de Twitter, reseñó EFE.
En un comunicado, explicaron que el convenio será para desarrollar un plan de trabajo en lo que resta de año y cuyas líneas de acción se centrarán en promover y divulgar la Ley para la Promoción y Protección a la Igualdad de las Personas con VIH/sida y sus Familiares.
«Igualmente, contempla actividades formativas y educativas sobre la nueva Estrategia Global del Sida: Visión Cero / Estrategia 10-10-10, y acciones en conjunto para la prevención del VIH/sida en el marco de jornadas y campañas informativas y de sensibilización», agregaron.
Además, explicaron que el objetivo se circunscribe en un trabajo de sensibilización para los funcionarios del Estado venezolano en materia de VIH, enfocados en la no discriminación y en «la importancia de involucrar a las comunidades y las familias para evitar esta vulneración a sus derechos humanos».
