Este viernes, desde la sede del Comité Olímpico Venezolano (COV), fue presentada oficialmente la delegación de Venezuela que dirá presente en los primeros Juegos Panamericanos Junior Cali – Valle 2021.
La actividad la encabezó el presidente del COV, Eduardo Álvarez; el Ministro del Poder Popular para el Deporte, Mervin Maldonado; la Jefe de Misión y Secretaria General del COV, Dra. Élida Párraga; y la Pdta. del Instituto Nacional del Deporte, Ninoska Clocier.
“Este es el camino hacia París 2024. Venezuela cerró su clasificación con 196 atletas, cuatro de ellos no podrán asistir: tres nadadores y un boxeador. Estos Juegos abren la puerta hacia París 2024. Estamos seguros que la gran mayoría de estos atletas conformarán la base de Venezuela para los Juegos Bolivarianos, Suramericanos y Centroamericanos a partir del próximo año. Además, los campeones de Cali tendrán su cupo seguro a los Panamericanos adultos de Santiago 2023″, señaló Álvarez.
El presidente del COV recordó que estos Juegos surgen como una iniciativa de PanamSport para incrementar el número de atletas clasificados a los venideros Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud y, por ende, a los Juegos Olímpicos de élite en París 2024.
«Estos Juegos coinciden para Venezuela con el despertar de una nueva generación y el inicio de un ciclo olímpico. Esto es muy importante para el país, para todos. Debemos estar muy atentos de las nuevas figuras del deporte venezolano».
Delegación biosegura
En su intervención, el Ministro del Poder Popular para Juventud y Deporte, Mervin Maldonado, informó que el total de la delegación, compuesta por 309 personas, está totalmente vacunada contra la pandemia COVID 19.
«Acompañamos a atletas, entrenadores, delegados y oficiales en todos los procesos biomédicos posibles para garantizar su resguardo, siguiendo todos los protocolos internacionales,» resaltó Maldonado.
El titular de la cartera deportiva señaló que en Cali ya se encuentran las delegaciones de kárate, canotaje y judo, equipos que arribaron tras cumplir sus bases de preparación en Táchira, Cojedes y España, respectivamente.
Abanderados y listos
Katherine Echandia (pesas) y Luisangel Acuña (Béisbol), abanderados de la delegación, compartieron sus impresiones en la previa a la magna cita del deporte júnior de América.
«Estoy lista para comerme el mundo en esa plataforma. Confío mucho en mí, en mi talento y en fuerza. Sé que vamos a dar lo mejor de cada uno de nosotros», visualiza Echandia, quien llega a Cali como titular olímpica en Buenos Aires 2018 y actual poseedora del récord continental Sub 20.
Acuña Jr., por su parte, habló en nombre del equipo campeón mundial de Béisbol U23 este año en Sonora, México.
«Es mi primera experiencia internacional representando a Venezuela y eso me tiene muy emocionado y orgulloso. Estoy feliz y estoy muy confiado en que toda la delegación haga un buen papel y dejemos el nombre de Venezuela en alto».
La primera avanzada de la delegación partirá este 20 de noviembre a Cali y estará compuesta por la jefatura de misión encabezada por la Dra. Élida Párraga, miembros del COV y del Instituto Nacional de Deportes.
La segunda avanzada estará integrada por atletas de gimnasia artística y clavados, además de personal del COV, IND y equipo médico.
