La Comisión Presidencial Alí Rodríguez Ataque, que se instauró para gerenciar lo referente a la industria petrolera venezolana, denunció que se ejecutó un sabotaje criminal perpetrado en las instalaciones del Poliducto de Oriente, en el estado Anzoátegui.
La posición oficial del ejecutivo nacional se dio a través de un comunicado oficial donde indica que con el ataque «forma parte de la guerra permanente dirigida por grupos pertenecientes a la extrema derecha, amparados por el imperialismo norteamericano, buscan atentar y boicotear los importantes avances que el Gobierno Bolivariano ha conseguido dentro del nuevo sistema de producción, distribución y comercialización de combustibles en todo el país».
