El secretario de Estado Vaticano, Pietro Parolin, pidió ante la Asamblea de la ONU que la comunidad internacional rechace las «nuevas interpretaciones parciales» de los derechos humanos y que haya «consenso internacional» para defender derechos y libertades fundamentales, como «el derecho a la vida, de pensamiento, conciencia y religión, y a la libertad de opinión y de expresión».
«En una época en la que se siguen violando impunemente muchos derechos humanos universales (…) , tenemos que crear resiliencia mediante la esperanza y el consenso en esta noble institución, defendiendo los derechos humanos y las libertades fundamentales (…) y no socovándolas», dijo Parolin en su discurso, según informó hoy el Vaticano.
«La Santa Sede considera que, al privar a los derechos humanos de sus derechos original dimensión universal, estas nuevas interpretaciones parciales tristemente se convierten en el ideológico punto de referencia del ‘progreso’ espurio y otro terreno de polarización y división. Tristemente, lo estamos enfrentando en la búsqueda constante de introducir nuevas agendas polémicas que impulsan los procesos de la ONU contrario a los mandatos conferidos a los órganos«, aseveró .
Sobre la pandemia, dijo que es preciso «trabajar juntos» para remediar la situación de quienes se encuentran en los ‘márgenes farmacéuticos’ e instó a la comunidad internacional a que las vacunas estén «al alcance de todos, especialmente en zonas de conflicto y situaciones humanitarias».
«La resiliencia exige un examen de la fragilidad y deficiencias de nuestros sistemas económicos, que han dejado a muchos atrás como consecuencia de la grave crisis económica y han hecho más pobres aún a los más vulnerables», agregó, sin olvidar «la perseverancia en la lucha contra la corrupción».
También se refirió a los efectos negativos del COVID-19 en la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible e insistió en la necesidad de «repensar la relación entre las personas y los economía y garantizar que tanto los modelos económicos como los programas de desarrollo permanezcan al servicio de hombres y mujeres, en particular los marginados de la sociedad, en lugar de explotar a ambas, personas y recursos naturales».
La próxima COP 26 en Glasgow, a la que acudirá el papa Francisco, «es una oportunidad importante» para «reforzar nuestra ambición» y citó como ejemplo a Haiti, donde «los trágicos desastres naturales» han afectado a una población que «ya sufre desafíos políticos y humanitarios», lo que consideró «un claro llamamiento a la comunidad internacional para trabajar de juntos y solidariamente en pro de un desarrollo duradero y sostenible que el pueblo haitiano puede ser el principal protagonista».
Mencionó los «terribles» efectos de las guerras, que siguen siendo visibles en Afganistán o Siria y el Líbano, entre otros, y retomó el llamamiento del Secretario General de la ONU y del papa a favor de un alto el fuego mundial, sin olvidar «la amenaza de las armas nucleares, biológicas y químicas».
Recordó que Francisco «considera que uno de los motivos más graves de preocupación en el mundo de hoy es la «crisis de las relaciones humanas» que brota de un modo de vida dominado por el egoísmo y el cultura de los residuos, «donde los valores humanos y la dignidad trascendente de la persona pisoteados«.
En «nuestras sociedades (…) se maltrata a los seres humanos, explotados, ignorados, asesinados o abandonados a languidecer en situaciones de emergencia humanitaria. Mujeres y niñas personas de diferentes orígenes indígenas, raciales, étnicos y lingüísticos sufren violencia y la opresión o se reducen a ciudadanos de segunda clase».
«Refugiados, migrantes y desplazados internos se ven cada vez más abandonados en el limbo o incluso ahogados, no son bienvenidos y no pueden encontrar un nuevo hogar para criar a su familia con dignidad, paz y seguridad», mientras «los creyentes religiosos sufren hostigamiento, persecución, muerte e incluso genocidio» y los mayores y discapacitados «son marginados».
