Un juez del Tribunal Superior Electoral (TSE) dio 15 días al presidente de Brasil, Jair Bolsonaro, para que entregue pruebas de las supuestas irregularidades en el sistema electrónico de recuento de votos, las cuales ha denunciado sin evidencias en reiteradas ocasiones.
El magistrado Luis Felipe Salomao, del TSE, determinó que todas las autoridades que aleguen supuestas irregularidades en proceso electoral presenten pruebas en un plazo de 15 días para comprobar los hechos.
Entre otros políticos, Salomao citó las alegaciones de Bolsonaro, quien ha cuestionado en numerosas ocasiones el sistema electrónico de recuento de votos, vigente en el país desde 1996.
El líder de la ultraderecha brasileña llegó a denunciar supuestas irregularidades en las elecciones presidenciales de 2018. Bolsonaro venció esos comicios en una segunda vuelta con el 56 % de los votos frente al candidato progresista Fernando Haddad, pero sostiene que debería haber sido elegido en la primera vuelta.
El presidente también puso en tela de juicio la confiabilidad del sistema electrónico de votación durante las elecciones municipales del noviembre pasado, en las que el ultraconservadurismo que lidera sufrió un duro varapalo.
Pese a que casi toda la sociedad brasileña reconoce la fiabilidad de las urnas electrónicas de votación que se utilizan en el país, desde hace años Bolsonaro y algunos pequeños sectores políticos exigen que las elecciones vuelvan a celebrarse con papeletas, ya que las consideran más confiables que los sistemas informáticos.
Sin embargo, desde que se implantó la votación electrónica, las denuncias de fraude prácticamente han desaparecido en el país, sea para elecciones presidenciales, regionales o municipales.
De acuerdo con el tribunal, la medida adoptada por el magistrado Salomao tiene como objetivo conocer los eventuales fallos del sistema alegados por algunos políticos y perfeccionarlo de cara a las elecciones presidenciales del próximo año, en las que Bolsonaro buscará su reelección.
Según las últimas encuestas de intención de voto, el expresidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva vencería en una eventual segunda vuelta frente a Bolsonaro.
