La tumba del salsero Héctor Lavoe en Ponce, ciudad en el sur de Puerto Rico, fue dañada por algún desconocido, informó este lunes la Policía local.
De acuerdo con las autoridades, un querellante identificado como William Robledo contó que la base de la tumba de Héctor Juan Pérez Martínez, nombre de pila del fenecido cantante, en el Cementerio Civil en Ponce, sufrió daños, reseñó EFE.
Los daños fueron estimados por el querellante en 600 dólares. La denuncia es investigada por personal de la Policía Municipal de Ponce.
Lavoe, natural del barrio Bélgica de Ponce, comenzó a destacarse en la música cuando decidió mudarse a Nueva York.
Allá, Lavoe, y otras agrupaciones de Willie Colón, Bobby Valentín, Willie Rosario, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico e Ismael Rivera se presentaban casi semanalmente en clubes como El Corso, Broadway 96 y Casablanca, durante las décadas de los 70 y 80.
Lavoe, por su parte, se convirtió en una de las grandes estrellas de la salsa por legendarios temas como “Todo tiene su final”, “El Todopoderoso”, “Aguanilé”, “El cantante”, “Rompe saragüey” y “Paraíso de dulzura”.
Lavoe falleció a causa del sida contraído por utilizar jeringuillas usadas- el 29 de junio de 1993 en el hospital Saint Claire de Nueva York, a los 46 años.
