En diciembre pasado, durante actos de campaña, el expresidente Donald Trump, realizó uno más de sus ataques contra los inmigrantes con una retórica donde aseguró que “Están envenenando la sangre de nuestro país. Están llegando a nuestro país desde África, desde Asia y desde todo el mundo”.
Sin embargo, el magnate republicano renovó su ofensiva migrante y este miércoles afirmó que las personas que cruzan la frontera entre Estados Unidos y México traen consigo enfermedades contagiosas.
“Vienen como terroristas. Están llegando muchísimos terroristas y gente con enfermedades muy contagiosas”, dijo Trump durante su entrevista con la estación de radio WABC de Nueva York.
“Ya sabes, de repente ves que hay una carrera contra la tuberculosis. Hay una tendencia hacia cosas de las que no hemos hablado durante años en este país”, añadió Trump.
Trump hizo afirmaciones similares en una entrevista de septiembre con The National Pulse sobre las enfermedades que ingresan a través de la frontera sur cuando dijo que los inmigrantes ilegales están “envenenando la sangre de nuestro país”.
“Es algo muy triste para nuestro país. Está envenenando la sangre de nuestro país. Es muy malo y la gente llega con enfermedades. La gente viene con todo lo posible que se pueda tener”, dijo Trump en diciembre en un mitin en New Hampshire.
En la entrevista del miércoles, Trump una vez más alegó que las personas que cruzan la frontera y entran a Estados Unidos hablan idiomas desconocidos.
“No tenemos idea de quiénes son ni de dónde vienen”, dijo Trump. “No tenemos idea. Hablan idiomas que ni siquiera conocemos. Tenemos personas con idiomas de los que no sabemos nada. Es una locura”, continuó Trump.
Gran parte de la retórica violenta de Trump sobre una frontera sur fuera de control es material de campaña rutinario para él, y el expresidente afirma repetidamente que las personas que cruzan la frontera provienen de “instituciones mentales” y “manicomios”.

Ya en ocasiones anteriores, el republicano dijo que la llegada de migrantes es la peor invasión que ha sufrido nunca Estados Unidos, lo que desató críticas al calificarlo en un discurso xenófobo.
Trump hace referencia con frecuencia al aumento de la migración desde países de América del Sur y Central y promete imponer regulaciones fronterizas más estrictas.
El sábado pasado, mientras hablaba en la convención anual de la NRA , Trump dijo que si fuera el líder de un país sudamericano, enviaría criminales y prisioneros a Estados Unidos “más rápido que ellos”.
“Aquellos en América del Sur que están enviando a todos sus criminales, prisioneros y pandillas a nuestro país, de manera inteligente”, dijo Trump. “Yo haría lo mismo si estuviera allí. Yo haría lo mismo. Yo lo haría más rápido que ellos”, dijo.
Durante su campaña, Trump ha dejado claro que, de regresar a la Casa Blanca, su política migratoria irá más allá del famoso muro fronterizo que lo catapultó a la presidencia en 2016.
En sus mítines de campaña, ha adoptado una fuerte retórica antimigratoria, llegando a afirmar que los extranjeros “envenenan” la sangre de Estados Unidos y proponiendo planes que van desde deportaciones masivas hasta la construcción de centros gigantes para detener a migrantes indocumentados.
Incluso, prometió llevar a cabo la “mayor operación de deportación” en la historia de Estados Unidos.
