Un tribunal ruso impuso este viernes una multa récord de 7.200 millones de rublos (unos 98 millones de dólares) a Google por no haber eliminado contenidos “prohibidos”, una nueva sanción en Rusia contra los gigantes del sector digital.
En un comunicado en su cuenta Telegram, el servicio de prensa de los tribunales de Moscú precisó que Google fue hallado culpable de “reincidencia”, ya que el gigante estadounidense no eliminó de sus plataformas contenidos juzgados ilegales en Rusia, reseñó AFP.
Rusia sanciona habitualmente a grandes empresas digitales acusadas de no borrar contenidos que hacen apología de las drogas, el suicidio y relacionadas con la oposición política.
En septiembre, poco antes de las elecciones legislativas, Moscú obligó a Apple y a Google a retirar de sus tiendas virtuales en Rusia la aplicación del opositor Alexéi Navalni, que se encuentra en prisión, por “injerencia electoral”.
Y les amenazaron con detener a sus trabajadores en Rusia si no cooperaban, según afirmaron fuentes internas de estas empresas.
También bloquearon varias páginas web ligadas a Navalni, ya que sus organizaciones fueron condenadas por “extremistas” por la justicia rusa.
En septiembre, el regulador de las telecomunicaciones rusas, Roskomnadzor, anunció a su vez el bloqueo de seis programas informáticos de redes privadas virtuales (VPN), que permiten acceder a páginas prohibidas en Rusia.
Las autoridades rusas están desarrollando un polémico sistema de “internet soberano” que permitirá aislar la red rusa de los grandes servidores mundiales.
Oenegés y opositores temen que el Kremlin busque crear una red nacional bajo su control, como pasa en China, algo que el gobierno niega.
También están aumentando su presencia en las grandes empresas digitales rusas.
El grupo de tecnología VK, controlado por una filial del gigante de la energía Gazprom (y que creó la primera red social rusa “VKontakte”), anunció a mediados de diciembre el nombramiento como director general de Vladimir Kirienko, el hijo de un colaborador cercano de Vladimir Putin.
