Tokio inicia este domingo la cuenta regresiva de 100 días para la celebración de los Juegos Paralímpicos, que al igual que los Olímpicos se ven rodeados de dudas por la situación del virus y cuya celebración estará marcada por las medidas anti-contagios.
Los Paralímpicos se inaugurarán el 23 de agosto, unas dos semanas después de los Juegos Olímpicos, concluirán el 5 de septiembre y está previsto que cuenten con la participación de unos cuatro mil 350 atletas de todo el mundo.
La cuarta ola de contagios que afecta a Japón y la declaración de la emergencia sanitaria en Tokio y otras regiones han generado inquietud sobre la viabilidad de los eventos deportivos y el rechazo de la población nipona y de profesionales médicos a su celebración, aunque los organizadores han insistido en que los JJOO siguen adelante.
Entre las medidas anti-covid que los anfitriones prevén aplicar está la recomendación de que los atletas participantes se vacunen antes de su llegada a Japón y la realización de test PCR a su llegada al país y de forma diaria durante su estancia, según publica Unión Radio.
Además, los deportistas verán limitados sus movimientos a los lugares de alojamiento, entrenamiento y competición, sin que se les permita tomar el transporte público, salir a la calle o hacer turismo en su tiempo libre. A esto se suma el recorte de los representantes de comités olímpicos, federaciones y otros organismos implicados en los Juegos hasta el mínimo número posible para el funcionamiento de los mismos, según anunciaron los organizadores.
Los anfitriones nipones organizaron varios eventos en Tokio para marcar la cuenta atrás de 100 días para los Juegos, entre ellos la colocación del emblema paralímpico en la entrada de la sede del Gobierno Metropolitano de Tokio, que también acogió para la ocasión un espectáculo de teatro tradicional nipón kabuki.
