Thierry Henry, exfutbolista del Arsenal, anunció este viernes que se borrará todas sus redes sociales por el racismo y la toxicidad que existe en estas plataformas.
El francés, que cuenta con más de dos millones de seguidores en Twitter, apuntó que el problema que existe con las redes y la gente que insulta a través de ellas es demasiado “tóxico” para ignorarlo.
Henry aseguró que no volverá hasta que la gente que controla estas plataformas impongan medidas tan severas para los insultos y el racismo como lo hace para la gente que infringe las normas del copyright.
En los últimos meses se han multiplicado los casos de deportistas que han denunciado los insultos racistas a través de redes, quejándose de la impunidad de estas personas anónimas que se esconden tras internet, lo que llevó a las instituciones británicas a emitir un comunicado pidiendo más medidas a Instagram y Facebook.
“Es demasiado sencillo crearse una cuenta para insultar a la gente, sin consecuencias y pudiendo seguir siendo anónimo”, dijo Henry en un comunicado.
“El volumen de racismo, abuso y tortura mental a los implicados es demasiado tóxico para ser ignorado”.
