El Team Beisbol Venezuela Sub23 conoce ya sus rivales de grupo para el Mundial de la categoría, pautado para realizarse la semana del 23 de septiembre al 02 de octubre 2021.
Doce países lucharán en México por ser los mejores de la categoría, el actual campeón y anfitrión del evento, jugará sus duelos del Grupo A en Ciudad Obregón, enfrentando a las selecciones europeas República Checa y Alemania, del Caribe a República Dominicana y Cuba y de Asia a China Taipei.
Por su parte, Venezuela será parte del Grupo B que tendrá como sede Sonora, la capital de Hermosillo, estará emparejado con Nicaragua, Panamá de Centroamérica, de Suramérica Colombia, de Europa Países Bajos y de Asia Corea.
Las tres primeras selecciones de cada grupo jugarán por las medallas en la Super Ronda que continuará en Sonora, mientras que las restantes selecciones buscarán en Ciudad Obregón los puestos del 7 al12 en el torneo.
El Team Venezuela sub23 alcanzó el podio en el pasado Mundial al ganar la medalla de bronce, ya en el Premundial había alcanzado la de oro, dirigidos en aquel momento por Carlos Moya.
Para esta edición, Richard Páez fue nombrado como el mánager y clasificó a Venezuela al Mundial al lograr medalla de Bronce en el torneo realizado en Honduras-Nicaragua en febrero del 2020.
El Team Beisbol Venezuela tiene como objetivo mantenerse en el podio de la categoría y seguir sumando puntos para ascender en el ranking Mundial en el que se encuentran en la 10ma casilla.
Después del Preolímpico realizado en junio de este año, este será el evento de mayor importancia para el Team Venezuela, en una categoría que es esencial dentro de las competencias internacionales.
En las próximas semanas se anunciará el nuevo cuerpo técnico que se encargará del grupo en el reto Mundial, además del róster de jugadores que defenderán a la selección. Adicionalmente el grupo que participe en este torneo en México, será el que defienda también al Team Venezuela en los primeros Juegos Panamerianos Junior en Cali- Valle, Colombia a partir del 19 de noviembre.
