Sony Music anunció este lunes que adquirió todas las grabaciones musicales de la leyenda del rock y premio Nobel de Literatura Bob Dylan, una transacción que se cerró en julio de 2021, sólo siete meses después de que el cantante vendiera a Universal Music los derechos de autor de sus canciones.
En un comunicado, Sony detalla que ha comprado todas las grabaciones de Dylan desde 1962, desde su álbum debut hasta su último disco, «Rough and Rowdy Days» (2020), además de los derechos de múltiples futuros lanzamientos.
La empresa no reveló el monto que pagó por las grabaciones de Dylan, pero se estima que Universal Music pagó a finales de 2020 unos 300 millones de dólares por los derechos de autor de sus canciones.
El comunicado recuerda que Dylan grabó su primer álbum en octubre de 1961 con Columbia Records, propiedad de Sony Music.
Y que además ese disco marcó «el inicio de un recorrido musical sin igual por un maestro de la música que sigue teniendo un profundo y global impacto en la cultura».
Mientras que el responsable de «Blowin’ In the Wind» se mostró «contento» de que sus grabaciones «pueden quedarse en el lugar donde pertenecen».
Asimismo, Rob Stringer, presidente de Sony Music, afirmó que Dylan es «uno de los mayores iconos de la música y un genio sin rival».
«Estamos emocionados por trabajar con Bob y su equipo para encontrar nuevas maneras de hacer que su música esté disponible para sus numerosos fans en la actualidad y para generaciones futuras», agregó Stringer.
Dylan, de 79 años, es autor de composiciones clásicas de la historia de la música contemporánea como «The Times They Are a-Changin» y «Like A Rolling Stone», entre otros.
