Los socorristas del ejército indio encontraron el martes los cuerpos de siete soldados, sepultados bajo una avalancha mientras patrullaban una región remota en frontera con China.
La avalancha se produjo el domingo en una zona del Himalaya a 4.400 metros de altitud que había experimentado los días anteriores fuertes nevadas.
Los siete soldados pertenecían a las tropas desplegadas en el estado de Arunachal Pradesh (noreste de India).
Sus cuerpos fueron encontrados después de dos días de búsqueda en condiciones meteorológicas adversas y trasladados a un centro médico militar cercano.
«Por desgracia, a pesar de todos los esfuerzos realizados, se confirmó la muerte de los siete soldados (desaparecidos)», dijo en un comunicado un portavoz del ejército indio, el coronel Harsh Wardhan Pande.
India y China se disputan desde hace tiempo su larga frontera y una guerra relámpago los enfrentó en 1962 en Arunachal Pradesh.
China venció a India y Pekín reivindica una buena parte del territorio de este estado indio que considera parte de Tíbet meridional.
