Para el candidato de la Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD) a la Gobernación de Barinas, Sergio Garrido, el 9 de enero la manifestación electoral en contra del chavismo, «no permitirá que haya fraudes ni trampas que no puedan ser descubiertas y denunciadas por los mismos ciudadanos».
El abanderado de la Unidad Democrática en Barinas, considera que la intención de voto no favorece al chavismo, «pese a que han movilizado todo su aparato de poder para convencer a la gente de que ahora sí van a cambiar las cosas, pero el ciudadano que vota tiene claro que todo forma parte de una maniobra engañosa», indica una nota de El Universal.
Garrido expresó que «están echándose la culpa entre ellos, se señalan de corrupción y hasta el momento no ha habido ningún investigado ni detenido por haber permitido que las obras no fueran concluidas en Barinas, tampoco por el dinero que no se invirtió, en fin, la oferta de gobierno del chavismo es una mentira más que no se la van a volver a comprar».
El candidato de la MUD refirió que «nosotros estamos realizando el trabajo que nos corresponde, ya hemos activado a los defensores del voto y contamos con los equipos que están instruyendo a las personas en el ejercicio correcto del sufragio, porque aquí no habrá voto cruzado y eso juega a nuestro favor».
