La transnacional petrolera Repsol informó este sábado que los trabajos de limpieza en el mar y litoral peruanos alcanzan un avance del 92 %, tras el derrame de crudo de enero pasado en los terminales de la refinería de La Pampilla, frente a Lima.
«A la fecha tenemos 16 playas, las cuales ya se encuentran limpias, y estamos pendientes de su reapertura para uso público, decisión que depende de la autoridad competente», informó el gerente senior de Seguridad, Calidad y Medio Ambiente, José Reyes, en una nota de prensa.
El derrame de petróleo ocurrió el 15 de enero, cuando el buque italiano Mare Doricum descargaba combustible a las tuberías submarinas de la refinería La Pampilla, que opera Repsol en el municipio de Ventanilla.
En un primer momento, la empresa reportó que se trataba de una fuga de 0,16 barriles (unos 25 litros) y que había sido causada por el «oleaje anómalo» producido por una erupción volcánica en Tonga.
Sin embargo, Repsol se corrigió tres días después y elevó la cifra a seis mil barriles, aunque finalmente calculó que habrían sido 10 mil 400, aún menos de los 11 mil 900 que estima el Gobierno peruano (1,9 millones de litros).
Monitoreo de la costa afectada
La empresa agregó, este sábado, que ha culminado con la toma de 1.400 muestras en mar y tierra de las zonas afectadas, en cumplimiento del mandato e indicación de las autoridades.
«Estas muestras están siendo analizadas por laboratorios independientes y acreditados. Los resultados de estos análisis nos darán información fidedigna del estado del agua y del lecho marino a lo largo del litoral afectado», explicó Reyes.
Con respecto a las Áreas Naturales Protegidas afectadas por el derrame, Repsol informó que cuenta con el equipo del científico peruano Marino Morikawa listo y a la espera de la autorización para el muestreo hidrobiológico de estas zonas.
La compañía reiteró que cuenta con los recursos necesarios, en caso de que aparezcan nuevas manchas provenientes de peñas y acantilados por acción natural de las olas, y con el compromiso de «seguir trabajando hasta regresar al litoral peruano a su estado natural».
