Reportan muertos de COVID-19 en Perú porque ya no hay tanques de oxígeno

El alcalde de la provincia de Talara (Piura), José Vitonera, señaló este sábado 10 que hasta las 23 horas de anoche el jefe del hospital de EsSalud de Talara reportó 15 fallecidos debido a falta de suministro de oxígeno. En entrevista con RPP Noticias de Perú, la autoridad recordó que PetroPerú se comprometió a construir un hospital modular “que no ha completado”.

Sin embargo, el seguro social Essalud confirmó el deceso de sólo 12 pacientes por el COVID-19 en el hospital de Talara, en el desértico norte del Perú, que se quedó desabastecido de oxígeno el viernes. En la red Piura se atiende a 80% de los enfermos en la región, ubicada cerca de la frontera con Ecuador.

Problemas de suministro

Según publicó Biobío, el hospital de Talara tiene un isotanque de 10 toneladas para abastecer de oxígeno a todos los internados en ese centro de salud. Y también 95 balones de oxígeno de respaldo. Pero Essalud explicó que hace unos días se pidió la reposición del oxígeno líquido al proveedor. El pedido no fue atendido en la fecha solicitada. Según la empresa proveedora Oxyman, el insumo llega desde de Lima y no contaban con el recurso en la zona.

“No tiene las camas UCI que dijo, no tiene la planta de oxígeno, tiene un isotanque de almacenamiento de oxígeno, pero al crecer el número de pacientes infectados, esta carga de 10 mil metros cúbicos disminuye, entonces se tiene que abastecer por balones de oxígeno que en estos momentos son recargados en una empresa privada de El Alto”, señaló el alcalde.

“La responsabilidad lógicamente debe ser de EsSalud, porque ellos manejan lo que está dentro de EsSalud. Como municipalidad colaboramos con el transporte y ayer en la tarde nos han pedido un camión para transportar 60 balones de esta planta de El Alto, en la mañana también movilizamos 5 balones, pero ya lo que sucede dentro de EsSalud tiene que ser responsabilidad de EsSalud”, apuntó el edil.

Investigación

Familiares de pacientes graves de COVID-19 pidieron una investigación por las muertes registradas en el Hospital II Talara de EsSalud, presuntamente por falta de oxígeno medicinal. El enviado especial de RPP Noticias a Talara llegó hasta los exteriores del hospital y conversó con las personas que se encontraban ahí.

El señor Tomás Purisaca pidió que se investiguen las muertes. Según esta persona son más de veinte los fallecidos. “Tuvimos que llamar a la Policía para que nos den información. Pero ni el fiscal ni nadie viene a hacer una investigación de quién tiene la responsabilidad de estas veintitantas muertes”, dijo.
