La ONG, con sede en el Reino Unido y una amplia red de colaboradores sobre el terreno, afirmó que fue causada por el impacto de un cohete que pudo haber sido lanzado por milicias apoyadas por Teherán desde sus posiciones al oeste del río Éufrates.
No hay pronunciamiento sobre el incidente
Sin embargo, la coalición internacional de lucha contra el grupo yihadista Estado Islámico (EI) en Siria e Irak, liderada por Estados Unidos, no se ha pronunciado sobre el incidente, el cuarto desde el bombardeo por parte de la aviación estadounidense el pasado 28 de junio.
Ese mismo día, las milicias lanzaron cohetes contra la base militar de EEUU en el campo petrolero de Al Omar, también en Deir al Zur y que habría sido objeto de otros dos ataques desde entonces, uno con proyectiles y otro con drones.
Entre otras fuentes, las Fuerzas de Siria Democrática (FSD), una alianza liderada por kurdos aliada Washington en su misión contra el EI y también presente en Al Omar, confirmaron sendas acciones, pero las tropas internacionales negaron una de ellas y mantuvieron silencio sobre la otra.
Paralelamente, una serie de objetivos estadounidenses en Irak han sido también blanco de ataques desde el bombardeo de hace dos semanas, que también afectó a territorio iraquí.
