Alrededor de 30 mujeres se concentraron este jueves en una concurrida plaza del oeste de Caracas para protestar en contra de la violencia machista en Venezuela. A propósito de la conmemoración del Día Internacional para la Eliminación de la Violencia contra la Mujer.
«En Venezuela también se vive violencia machista y también se vive violencia de Estado y eso no se puede ocultar (…) no es un problema individual. Los feminicidios son completamente evitables«, dijo la miembro de la organización feminista Pan y Rosas, Sujeidi Ochoa, desde la protesta.
La activista Zuleica Matamoros, del colectivo feminista Juntas y a la Izquierda, coincidió con su compañera y dijo que «no hay cifras oficiales ante este flagelo. Lo que da cuenta de que no hay voluntad política para diseñar políticas que puedan apuntar a erradicar la violencia de género».
Las feministas resaltaron en sus pancartas y consignas que, de acuerdo con la organización Utopix, en Venezuela se han registrado «200 asesinatos de mujeres en 10 meses» durante este año y que, de acuerdo a este conteo, «cada 36 horas ocurre un femicidio» en el país.
Despenalización del aborto
Además de alzar sus voces contra los feminicidios. En esta ocasión, las feministas solicitaron también la despenalización del aborto y la erradicación de la violencia obstétrica.
Las manifestantes consignaron un documento ante el Ministerio de la Salud. En el que solicitaron la implementación de políticas que garanticen los derechos de las mujeres.
En el texto exigieron también que se publiquen los índices de mortalidad materna, que se prepare al personal de salud en torno a derechos humanos y que «se garantice» «una atención oportuna y de calidad» a las mujeres.
