La Policía Nacional informó este martes que detuvo al aspirante opositor a la presidencia de Nicaragua Félix Maradiaga, quien es investigado por el Ministerio Público por «incitar a la injerencia extranjera en los asuntos internos«.
Maradiaga, un académico y activista, fue detenido después de comparecer a declarar ante la Fiscalía, donde le confirmaron que le habían abierto una investigación, por lo que, según dijo a los periodistas, estaba preparado para lo que viniera.
De esta forma, Maradiaga se convierte en el tercer aspirante a la presidencia por la oposición investigado y detenido a falta de cinco meses para que se celebran las elecciones generales, en las que el presidente del país, el sandinista Daniel Ortega, busca una nueva reelección.
La primera detenida fue Cristiana Chamorro, hija de la exmandataria Violeta Barrios de Chamorro (1990-1997) y la figura de la oposición con mayor probabilidad de ganar las presidenciales de noviembre próximo, y el segundo fue Arturo Cruz, que fue embajador en Estados Unidos del Gobierno de Ortega entre 2007 y 2009.
