El comisionado de Juan Guaidó para la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), Miguel Pizarro, denunció este sábado 14 de agosto que a los indígenas de Venezuela se les está «violando el derecho a la salud» debido a que los hospitales públicos en sus territorios presentan diversas deficiencias, y señaló que con la pandemia por COVID-19 la situación se acentuó.
“Desde hace años existen deficiencias en el funcionamiento de los ambulatorios y hospitales, falta de medicinas, y dificultades para entrar en territorios indígenas. No obstante, con la pandemia se acentuó la violación del derecho a la salud de los pueblos originarios”, dijo Pizarro en un mensaje en Twitter.
En otro tuit culpó al Gobierno de Nicolás Maduro de destruir “el sistema de salud de Venezuela” y de llevar a la población a “vivir en una emergencia humanitaria compleja que trajo consecuencias devastadoras”.
“Actualmente la comunidad indígena es una de las poblaciones más vulnerables”, agregó el exparlamentario, que recordó que en estos poblados han resurgido enfermedades que estaban erradicadas, como la malaria.
Según la ONG @SOSOrinoco, como consecuencia de la movilización humana al Sur del Orinoco en búsqueda de una alternativa económica para hacerle frente a la crisis, han resurgido en la zona enfermedades que ya se encontraban erradicadas, tal es el caso de la malaria. pic.twitter.com/FzUznFCPzj
