Los padres del adolescente de EEUU acusado del tiroteo del martes pasado en la localidad de Oxford, en Michigan, donde cuatro personas murieron y siete resultaron heridas en un instituto de secundaria, fueron imputados este viernes de homicidio involuntario.
Así lo anunció la fiscal del condado de Oakland (Michigan), Karen McDonald, en una rueda de prensa, en la que explicó los motivos por los que decidió imputar a James y Jennifer Crumbley, padres de Ethan Crumbley, de 15 años, con cuatro cargos cada uno de homicidio involuntario.
De ser hallados culpables, podrían recibir una condena de hasta 15 años de cárcel cada uno.
La fiscal detalló que el padre compró, estando su hijo presente, el arma de fuego semiautomática con la que días después Ethan presuntamente disparó.
Más tarde, el adolescente publicó fotos en sus redes sociales del arma, con el texto «acabo de conseguir mi nueva belleza hoy», con emojis de corazones.
Por su parte, la madre escribió mensajes en las redes sociales, donde afirmó que su hijo estaba «probando su nuevo regalo de Navidad».
La fiscal agregó que los padres guardaban el arma en su dormitorio sin tenerla bajo llave.
El día del suceso, cuando emergieron las noticias de que había un tiroteo activo en el instituto de secundaria Oxford, Jennifer envió un mensaje de texto a su hijo diciéndole «Ethan, no lo hagas».
La fiscal imputó al adolescente, que será juzgado como adulto, de un cargo de terrorismo, cuatro de asesinato en primer grado, siete de asalto con intento de asesinato y doce por posesión de un arma de fuego.
El joven se declaró no culpable y afronta cadena perpetua.
