“No se ha determinado aún el tipo de vacuna, pero hay la probabilidad de que recibieran las vacunas de Johnson & Johnson“, señaló en rueda de prensa el doctor Ciro Ugarte, director del Departamento de Preparación para Emergencias y Desastres de la OPS.
Ugarte informó que Venezuela ha continuado realizando abonos del pago restante para finalmente poder acceder al fondo de vacunas.
“Hemos recibido información de GAVI de que Venezuela ha hecho pagos adicionales a cuenta del balance que existe todavía. Cada vez el balance de fondos necesarios es menor. Hasta hace unos días era de 18 millones de dólares aproximadamente“, detalló.
De completarse el pago en los próximos días, Venezuela pudiera ser incluida en la próxima asignación de vacunas prevista para fines de junio.
El representante de la OPS también informó que este miércoles se reúne nuevamente la Mesa Técnica Nacional para discutir con “más profundidad” cómo será implementado el plan de vacunación, y acordar la posible liberación de más recursos para invertir en aspectos logísticos y la cadena de frío.
“Estamos optimistas con la liberación de fondos adicionales”, al tiempo que destacó la apertura que ha habido por parte del Ministerio de Salud del régimen de Nicolás Maduro, representantes de la Asamblea Nacional presidida por Juan Guaidó y de las sociedades y academias científicas.
