La Oficina de las Naciones Unidas para la Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios (OCHA) aseguró este miércoles que, en el primer semestre de 2021; se movilizaron para Venezuela 279,4 millones de dólares, «superando los montos movilizados en 2020», como parte del Plan de Respuesta Humanitaria.
«En lo que resta de año, se seguirá abogando con los donantes para recaudar 708,1 millones de dólares requeridos para implementar el Plan de Respuesta Humanitaria»; explicó la organización en un comunicado.
Asimismo, señalaron que en el país caribeño también se ha incrementado el número; de las ONG involucradas en la respuesta humanitaria, con 131 organizaciones nacionales e internacionales.
«En un esfuerzo común, hasta junio de 2021, las organizaciones humanitarias han alcanzado a 2,1 millones de personas con algún tipo de asistencia en todos los municipios del país. Esta labor se realiza en coordinación con diferentes instituciones del Estado y miles de funcionarios comprometidos con resolver las necesidades de los más vulnerables», añadieron.
Igualmente, indicaron que, con el objetivo de «fortalecer la respuesta humanitaria» en Venezuela; las Naciones Unidas han fortalecido su operación en «el terreno con más de 700 trabajadores en 2021».
«La mayoría de estas personas, presentes en casi todos los estados del país, están trabajando en primera línea en hospitales, ambulatorios; alojamientos temporales o en comunidades para asegurar el acceso a bienes y servicios básicos», agregaron.
El 18 de junio, el opositor Miguel Pizarro, nombrado por Juan Guaidó comisionado especial para la ayuda humanitaria; hizo un llamado a la comunidad internacional a apoyar los esfuerzos de la ONU y sus socios para atender a los venezolanos en situación de vulnerabilidad.
La petición la hizo luego de que la ONU pidiera el apoyo para atender a 4,5 millones de personas vulnerables en Venezuela a través del Plan de Respuesta Humanitaria; que creó para el país y por el cual requiere 708,1 millones de dólares.
«Los esfuerzos realizados por OCHA, por el equipo humanitario del país, por las agencias multilaterales de la ONU y por los socios humanitarios por brindar asistencia a los venezolanos han sido arduos», destacó.
Sin embargo, aseguró que se necesita de la solidaridad y apoyo de la comunidad internacional.
«La brecha entre el financiamiento y las necesidades humanitarias de los venezolanos sigue siendo considerable; según lo establecido en el plan; la respuesta humanitaria en 2020 recibió en términos de financiamiento solo el 23,1 % de lo que el plan de respuesta requería para funcionar a cabalidad», sostuvo Pizarro.
