El 1 de junio de 2017 la Fundación Venezolana de Donaciones de Órganos, Tejidos y Células (Fundavene), ente oficial encargado de la donación de órganos, informó que se suspendían los trasplantes de órganos en Venezuela.
Lucila Velutini, responsable de relaciones institucionales de la Organización Nacional de Trasplante de Venezuela (ONTV), señaló que el comunicado indicaba las fallas en los medicamentos inductores, inmunosupresores y de mantenimiento.
Luego de cuatros años del cierre “temporal”, adultos y niños siguen en la espera su reactivación para una segunda oportunidad de vida.
“La reactivación no se realiza en 24 horas, debe ser responsable y éticamente para que sea exitoso”, indicó.
Informó que en estos momentos no existe una lista de espera para posible trasplantados por la misma situación que atraviesa el país.
En algunos centros privados se están realizando trasplantes a precios muy elevados. También muy pocos casos en el Hospital Militar, las personas deben llevar los insumos necesarios para la operación, reseña Mundo UR.
Informó que los 50 niños que aguarda por un trasplante en el Hospital JM de los Ríos, no están esperando por el mismo órgano.
La mayor cantidad de niños, jóvenes y adultos, se encuentran en la espera de un trasplante renal.
