Además, desde la OMS instaron a los países ricos y con mayor número de vacunas a reconsiderar los planes para vacunar a los niños y, en lugar de ello, donar los fármacos al plan Covax destinado a los países más pobres.
En algunos países de ingresos medianos y bajos, “el suministro de vacunas contra el COVID-19 no ha sido suficiente para inmunizar a los trabajadores sanitarios y los hospitales se están inundando con personas que necesitan atención vital con urgencia”, afirmó el director general del organismo.
“En el momento actual, solo el 0,3 % del suministro de vacunas contra el COVID-19 va a los países de bajos ingresos”, añadió.
