La variante Ómicron del coronavirus ya se ha propagado por 106 países de todo el mundo, informó este martes la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) a través de su boletín epidemiológico semanal.
“Las pruebas recientes indican que la variante Ómicron tiene una ventaja de crecimiento sobre la variante Delta y se está extendiendo rápidamente, incluso en países con transmisión comunitaria documentada y altos niveles de inmunidad de la población”, dice la OMS en la publicación.
Seguidamente, señalan que aún faltan datos para valorar con certeza el nivel de gravedad asociado a esta variante.
Aunado a esto, el informe muestra detalles preliminares sobre la reducción en la neutralización de Ómicron en las personas que recibieron vacunas o que se contagiaron antes con el virus.
