Tras muchos intentos fallidos y numerosas nominaciones sin premio, Netflix reinó por fin en los Emmy gracias a «The Crown» y «The Queen’s Gambit», que le dieron este domingo los galardones de mejor serie dramática y mejor serie limitada (miniserie), respectivamente.
El gigante digital nunca se había llevado uno de los grandes premios –mejor drama, mejor comedia o mejor serie limitada- de la ceremonia más importante de la televisión.
Pero esta noche cambió su suerte gracias a las elegantes intrigas de la corona británica en «The Crown» y al sorprendente fenómeno ajedrecístico de «The Queen’s Gambit» con la latina Anya Taylor-Joy como protagonista.
La 73 edición de los Emmy certificó el cambio estructural que afronta la pequeña pantalla, cada vez más orientada al «streaming» y los servicios digitales en lugar de la televisión tradicional.
Así, otra plataforma como Apple TV+, que no tiene ni dos años de vida, se anotó una gran victoria con el galardón de mejor comedia para la amable y muy tierna mirada al fútbol de «Ted Lasso».
La cruz fue para Disney+, que se presentó con potentes bazas como «The Mandalorian» y «WandaVision» pero que no pudo llevarse a casa ninguno de los galardones más destacados.
Uniendo los premios que se entregaron en los Creative Arts Emmy, unas ceremonias previas a la gran gala de hoy y en la que se desvelan los reconocimientos técnicos y otras estatuillas de apartados muy específicos, Netflix fue de largo la máxima ganadora de los Emmy con 44 distinciones seguida a mucha distancia por HBO y HBO Max, con 19 entre ambas.
«The Crown» y «The Queen’s Gambit» redondearon la fiesta de Netflix al compartir el honor de ser la serie más galardonada con 11 estatuillas por cabeza.
Un ciclón desde Buckingham
«The Crown» pasó como un auténtico ciclón por esta gala y se anotó los siete Emmy dedicados a las series dramáticas.
Así, además del premio de mejor drama, «The Crown» hizo pleno al conseguir también los reconocimientos de mejor actriz (Olivia Colman), mejor actor (Josh O’Connor), mejor actriz de reparto (Gillian Anderson), mejor actor de reparto (Tobias Menzies), mejor dirección (Jessica Hobbs) y mejor guion (Peter Morgan).
«Qué encantador final para el viaje más extraordinario», dijo Colman, que tras arrasar como la reina Isabel II en la ficción ya ha dado el relevo en este papel a Imelda Staunton para los futuros episodios de «The Crown».
