Al menos 23 opositores al golpe de Estado militar del 1 de febrero y 20 miembros del Ejército murieron este sábado en distintos puntos del país, en la jornada más sangrienta en casi dos meses, informaron este domingo medios locales.
El punto con mayor número de víctimas civiles fue la región de Ayeryawady, al oeste del país, donde al menos veinte vecinos murieron y varios resultaron heridos tras enfrentarse al Ejército con tirachinas y pistolas de gas de fabricación casera, informaron las agencias Delta News y Khit Thit Media.
El choque se produjo en la localidad de Kyonpyaw, 150 kilómetros al noroeste de Rangún, cuando los lugareños se enfrentaron a un grupo de militares que quería registrar la vivienda de un vecino acusado de esconder armas.
A estas víctimas se suman los dos civiles fallecidos anoche en Shwe Nyaung, en el estado Shan (al este) tras recibir disparos desde motocicletas, mientras que otros tres fueron arrestados, según Khit Thit Media.

Los enfrentamientos que comenzaron en abril y continúan a día de hoy entre las Fuerzas Armadas y los rebeldes de este Ejercito Karenni junto a grupos de civiles armados han obligado a alrededor de 46 mil personas a refugiarse en la selva y campos de desplazados internos.
Por otro lado, en Magwe, en la región der Yaw, en torno a 50 mil personas fueron desplazadas debido la toma de la zona por el Ejército, según informó ayer el portal Myanmar Now.
Los enfrentamientos, que supusieron la cifra más alta de muertes en un día desde principios de abril, se producen a pesar de que el Ejército de Birmania extendió el pasado lunes hasta finales de junio el alto el fuego con las guerrillas étnicas.
El Tatmadaw, como se conoce a las Fuerzas Armadas birmanas, suspendió «todas las operaciones militares» hasta el 30 de junio con la excepción de aquellas ocasiones en las que se vean atacadas las fuerzas de seguridad o la administración del Estado.
Además de estos episodios violentos, este domingo continuaron las protestas contra la junta militar en varios puntos del país, incluidas Rangún y Mandalay -las ciudades más pobladas- y Naipyidó, más de cuatro meses después de un golpe de Estado que no ha logrado la estabilidad que los militares esperaban para el país.
Al menos 847 personas perdieron la vida tras el golpe a raíz de la brutal represión ejercida por las fuerzas de seguridad contra manifestaciones pacíficas, según cifras de la Asociación para la Asistencia de Presos Políticos.
