La boxeadora mexicana Jeanette Zacarías Zapata, conocida como ‘Chiquitaboom’, ha muerto este jueves a los 18 años de edad, tras permanecer varios días en coma inducido como consecuencia del nocaut sufrido el 28 de agosto durante una pelea en Canadá, comunicó la empresa GYM, promotora de ese combate.
Zacarías Zapata estuvo internada en un hospital de la ciudad de Montreal, a donde fue llevada luego del combate contra la canadiense Marie Pier Houle. Los médicos habían decidido inducirle el coma, debido a su delicado estado de salud. De momento, se desconoce las causas de la muerte.
De acuerdo a Betriz Pereyra, reportera de Proceso, falleció la boxeadora mexicana Jeanette Zacarías Zapata.

En el cuarto ‘round’ de la última pelea, Zacarías Zapata recibió una serie de fuertes golpes de parte de su contrincante, que llevaron al árbitro a detener el encuentro, dándole la victoria a la canadiense por nocaut técnico.
Jeanette había recibido un duro gancho de derecha que le sacó el protector bucal e hizo que el cuello de la joven sufriera un latigazo. Tras el impacto, Zacarías quedó tambaleante sobre las cuerdas y a los pocos segundos comenzó a convulsionar de pie mientras, parte de su equipo intentaba sostenerla en una esquina del cuadrilátero.
