El primer ministro iraquí, Mustafa al Kazemi, calificó este domingo de «crimen» la presunta negligencia que provocó una explosión y un incendio en un hospital de Bagdad dedicado a pacientes de COVID-19, causando decenas de víctimas, mientras varias decenas de familiares y ciudadanos indignados se manifestaron en varios puntos de la capital.
«La negligencia en estos asuntos no es un mero error, sino un crimen cuya responsabilidad deben asumir todos los negligentes», indicó Al Kazemi en un comunicado publicado por su oficina de prensa, tras una reunión de emergencia con varios de sus ministros y responsables de seguridad del país durante la madrugada.
El primer ministro dijo haber pedido resultados sobre las investigaciones de esta tragedia en 24 horas y que se castigue a los responsables.
«Que nadie me diga que fue por un fallo eléctrico, es una vergüenza», añadió en referencia a una de las primeras hipótesis que ha circulado sobre la causa que provocó el estallido de las bombonas de oxígeno del hospital Al Jatib, en el sureste e Bagdad.
En un comunicado, el Ministerio solo indicó que más de 200 pacientes habían sido rescatados del incendio.
