Miles de familias mexicanas acudieron este lunes a los cementerios del país para decorar las tumbas y esperar la llegada de las almas de sus difuntos con motivo del Día de Muertos, una tradición interrumpida el año pasado por el cierre de los panteones por la pandemia de COVID-19.
El panteón de Dolores, uno de los más reconocidos de la Ciudad de México, recibió a muchas familias que se pusieron manos a la obra para poner a punto las tumbas.
«Los visitamos porque es el Día de Muertos y hay la creencia de que ellos bajan ese día a visitarnos y nosotros los recibimos. Les damos lo que a ellos le gustaba comer o hacer. Mi papá fumaba y le prendemos un cigarro«, dijo a EFE Alejandra Corona, quien acudió al camposanto con sus hermanos.
Sin embargo, al panteón, ubicado en el Bosque de Chapultepec, pulmón verde de la capital mexicana, está acudiendo menos gente de la que era habitual durante estas fechas antes de la pandemia.
Según datos oficiales recibieron 26.387 visitantes entre sábado y domingo.
A raíz de la pandemia de COVID-19, que ha dejado casi 300 mil muertos confirmados en México, las autoridades mexicanas pidieron el año pasado a la ciudadanía celebrar en casa y en grupos reducidos el Día de Muertos, que fue declarado día de luto nacional por el presidente.
Muchos cementerios cerraron entonces para evitar aglomeraciones, pero este año, gracias al avance de la vacunación, regresaron las actividades públicas por el Día de Muertos.
«Por la pandemia habíamos dejado de venir casi un año, pero ahora ya abrieron y hay medidas, ponen gel y hay control. Nos sentimos tranquilos ahora», comentó Alejandra.
«Venimos a visitar a mi padre y abuelo, que están en esta capilla. Mi padre falleció hace un año y medio y el abuelo hace más de 10 años», contó a su vez Jonatan Gutiérrez, un joven que acudió con parte de su familia a limpiar la capilla para que mas tarde otra parte de la familia la decore.
El joven dijo que en su familia esta fecha es muy importante y que, al igual que contó Alejandra, los une más como familias.
Medidas sanitarias en los cementerios
Esta tradición que se festeja este año con especial entusiasmo y que resulta catártica para muchos, se extiende por todo lo largo y ancho del país, como por el occidental estado de Michoacán, uno de los más tradicionales.
«Lo que me gusta de este día es seguir las tradiciones de visitar las tumbas y adornarlas. Se ve muy diferente el panteón con flores. El año pasado no hubo la oportunidad», narró a Efe Brenda Alejandra Ríos, dentro del panteón municipal de Morelia, capital del estado.
«Me parece muy bien que ahora sí se estén recibiendo a las personas (en los cementerios). Claro que con las medidas (sanitarias) que son. Ahora ya nos dan tiempo, nos dan 45 minutos para estar aquí adentro y 15 minutos para desalojar», comentó Brenda Alejandra.
En Morelia las autoridades sanitarias dispusieron mantener aforos reducidos y controlados por tiempo, para evitar contagios de COVID-19, lo que ha desatado una serie de opiniones encontradas entre quienes buscan velar ahí a sus muertos.
