El presidente de México Andrés Manuel López Obrador informó que estudian el posible primer caso detectado de la variante ómicron del coronavirus en una persona que se encuentra hospitalizada tras haber viajado a Sudáfrica.
En su rueda de prensa matutina desde el occidental estado de Michoacán, López Obrador dijo que «hay un mexicano que estuvo en Sudáfrica y está internado en un hospital particular con síntomas de COVID-19» y está «por confirmarse» si se trata de la variante ómicron, reseña EFE.
«Pero bueno, es muy probable que se presente esta nueva variante en el país», resumió el mandatario, quien aseguró que el paciente «no está grave».
De todos modos, López Obrador subrayó que «esto no significa que haya más riesgos», afirmó que «la vacua sí protege de todas las variantes» y se reafirmó en su postura de no cerrar las fronteras.
