El presidente de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, confirmó este lunes que su Gobierno entregará una carta sobre migración destinada al jefe de la Casa Blanca, Joe Biden, este jueves previo a la reunión en Washington del Diálogo Económico de Alto Nivel (DEAN).
«La carta la vamos a entregar. Va a haber un encuentro en Washington, que le llaman de alto nivel, el jueves», dijo el mandatario mexicano en la conferencia matutina desde Palacio Nacional, reseñó EFE.
A la reunión del 9 de septiembre acudirán el secretario de Relaciones Exteriores, Marcelo Ebrard; la secretaria de Economía, Tatiana Clouthier; y el subsecretario de Hacienda y Crédito Público, Gabriel Yorio.
Según la Casa Blanca, esta será la primera vez desde 2016 que se celebra el DEAN. López Obrador aseguró que la misiva se entregará «al presidente Biden antes de la reunión».
El mandatario mexicano reveló la pasada semana que enviaría una carta a Joe Biden para insistir en que atienda las «causas» de la migración forzada y ofrezca visas temporales de trabajo para centroamericanos.
«Así se lo voy a volver a plantear al presidente Biden la semana próxima a más tardar. Le enviaré una carta porque no podemos solo estar deteniendo, reteniendo, hay que atender las causas», expresó entonces el presidente mexicano.
La región vive una ola migratoria sin precedentes en años y como prueba de ello, Estados Unidos detuvo el pasado julio en su frontera sur a 212.672 indocumentados, la cifra más alta en 20 años.
