La Fundación Archewell, encabezada por Meghan Markle y el Príncipe Harry, fue catalogada como “morosa” por las autoridades regulatorias de California (Estados Unidos), quienes les han instruido suspender cualquier solicitud o gasto de fondos.
El 3 de mayo, el fiscal general de California, Rob Bonta, emitió una notificación de morosidad en nombre del Registro de Organizaciones Benéficas y de Recaudación de Fondos, indicando que la Fundación Archewell no cumplió con la presentación de informes anuales y pagos requeridos para mantener su estatus en regla. El incumplimiento implica la prohibición de realizar actividades sujetas a registro, como solicitar o utilizar fondos benéficos.
Según el documento obtenido por la revista People, la Fundación se encuentra en esta situación debido a la omisión de presentación de informes y pagos necesarios para mantenerse al día.
Una fuente reveló que aunque la Fundación Archewell presentó su solicitud a tiempo, el cheque enviado no fue recibido, y la Fundación no tuvo conocimiento de ello hasta la notificación de morosidad. Un nuevo cheque ha sido enviado y se espera que el problema se resuelva pronto, reflejándose en los registros en los próximos siete días hábiles.
La Fundación Archewell, establecida por el Príncipe Harry, de 39 años, y Meghan, de 42, tras su retirada de los roles reales en 2020, tiene su sede registrada en Beverly Hills, California, aproximadamente a dos horas de su residencia en Montecito.
