De esta manera, el borrador de la misiva fue redactado pensando «que podría filtrarse«, de acuerdo a Knauf, «la duquesa me había señalado entonces que reconocía que era posible» que su padre «la hiciera pública«.
Para Andrew Caldecott, abogado del grupo editorial que publica The Mail on Sunday, Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), este testimonio contradice «el escenario que se presentó ante el juez«, de acuerdo al cual se trataba de una «carta absolutamente privada escrita para ser leída exclusivamente por el señor Markle«.
Por su lado, los abogados de Meghan Markle argumentan que la esposa del príncipe Enrique decidió escribir esa carta tras discutirla con prominentes miembros de la familia real, y que esto Knauf lo ignoraba.
