Diversas organizaciones de derechos humanos y víctimas de violencia policial exigieron este viernes, a dos días de que se constituya la asamblea que redactará la nueva Constitución de Chile, reparación para los manifestantes heridos en los ojos durante la crisis social que estalló en 2019.
Al grito de “¡Justicia y reparación urgente!”, decenas de personas se congregaron en la capital para denunciar el abandono del Gobierno a las más de 400 víctimas de trauma ocular que dejaron las manifestaciones y para pedir a los 155 constituyentes que consideren sus demandas.
“Exigimos que se nos atienda dignamente, que se cumplan los compromisos y que se haga justicia y paguen quienes nos arrebataron parte de nuestras vidas”, afirmó Natalia Aravena, portavoz de la Coordinadora de Víctimas de Trauma Ocular y una de la víctimas.
Entre 2019 y 2020, Chile vivió la mayor crisis social en sus tres décadas de democracia, una ola de protestas por un modelo socioeconómico más justo que dejaron al menos una treintena de muertos y miles de heridos.
Si por algo son recordadas estas revueltas es por la “epidemia” de traumas oculares entre los manifestantes 460 víctimas de este tipo, según el Instituto Nacional de Derechos Humanos (INDH), una situación que llevó a varios organismos internacionales a acusar a las fuerzas de seguridad de violaciones a los derechos humanos.
Las imágenes de jóvenes con los ojos ensangrentados tras recibir perdigones y bombas lacrimógenas en la cara dieron la vuelta al mundo y obligaron al Gobierno a lanzar un programa de reparación de traumas oculares.
Desde la organización, denunciaron que el Estado no se ha hecho cargo de este programa, que “faltan profesionales y que no están cualificados” para atender a las víctimas con secuelas psicológicas y alertan de una desatención generalizada.
“Ni un perdón”
Este mismo viernes, Fabiola Campillai, una mujer de 36 años que fue cegada por un policía y uno de los casos más emblemáticos de trauma ocular, se reunió con el jefe de Carabineros, el cuerpo policial más enjuiciado tras las protestas, para denunciar “la falta investigación y de sanciones en la institución”.
“No ha habido ni un perdón de parte de nadie”, lamentó la mujer.
Campillai recibió el impacto de una bomba de gas lacrimógeno en el rostro cuando esperaba el autobús para dirigirse a su trabajo, y el exagente imputado por su causa, Patricio Maturana, salió de prisión preventiva y se encuentra ahora bajo arresto domiciliario y desvinculado del cuerpo policial.
“El principal culpable es el presidente, que manda a la policía para reprimirnos y a disparar como si fuésemos delincuentes. Él nos declaró una guerra que solo existe en su mente”, agregó/EFE.
