El presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, prometió este jueves que su Gobierno va a resolver «al 100 %» los problemas de suministro de agua, un bien al que, según distintos estudios, solo el 28 % de los ciudadanos del país tiene acceso de manera constante.
«Vamos a hacer la revolución del agua (…) En el primer semestre de 2022 vamos a meternos (…) a resolver el tema del agua para que funcione al 100 %, sin excusas, sin bloqueo mental, sin burocracia, sin indolencia», dijo Maduro en el acto de juramentación del nuevo gobernador del céntrico estado Miranda, Héctor Rodríguez.
Según un estudio de la ONG Ciudadanía en Acción, solo el 28 % de los venezolanos tiene agua corriente el 90 % de las horas de la semana.
Esa situación, que comenzó hace años, ha provocado que los venezolanos tengan que acudir a ríos, arroyos de montaña, fuentes o cavar pozos en sus domicilios para tener acceso al agua.
Pese a que las imágenes de caraqueños buscando agua en distintos puntos son cotidianas y muy extendidas, especialmente en los cerros que marcan el final de la capital, Maduro comentó que solo recientemente fue testigo de una de estas escenas.
«Me paré en un lugar, unas vecinas en Caracas me dijeron ‘presidente aquí, en este barrio antes, hace un año, dos años, no fallaba el agua, ahora, no llega y tenemos que bajar a la avenida para buscarla'», comentó acerca de uno de los actos más habituales en la capital y que, aparentemente, desconocía.
Ante esa situación, afirmó haber mandado a unos integrantes del «cuerpo de inspectores presidenciales» que se enteraron de que «había un señor de (la empresa estatal) Hidrocapital que controlaba la llave de paso».
«Y el señor, no sé por qué razón, no le daba la gana abrir la llave de paso (…) No sé, se han visto casos, de repente alguien de la derecha extremista le mete mil dólares en la mano», dijo sin facilitar más datos del caso ni aclarar qué medidas se tomaron contra él.
No se refirió al resto de casos que se han multiplicado en el país desde hace años, el origen de esos problemas o qué proyectos promoverá para resolver un problema agravado durante la pandemia de COVID-19, ya que lavarse las manos para prevenir los contagios se ha vuelto casi imposible para un sinnúmero de venezolanos.
