El presidente de Bielorrusia, Alexandr Lukashenko, dejó entrever hoy que «dejará muy pronto» el cargo, aunque no aclaró si seguirá en el poder en otra función, con ocasión del aniversario del estallido de las protestas antigubernamentales contra el fraude electoral.
«No hay que especular sobre cuándo se irá Lukashenko y demás. Muy pronto», dijo el mandatario durante una multitudinaria rueda de prensa, en la que no precisó plazos.
Lukashenko, en el poder desde 1994, subrayó que si hay elecciones presidenciales no presentará su candidatura y tampoco «promoverá» a ningún delfín. «A quien elija el pueblo bielorruso, será presidente. Eso es así», señaló.
Admitió que piensa mucho últimamente sobre un sucesor, pero que le cuesta imaginarse lejos de puestos de responsabilidad.
«Al respecto, aún no he decidido qué es lo que haré. De verdad. Pienso en ello, claro. Este no es un cargo eterno. No voy a tener una vida tranquila hasta que me muera. No entiendo cómo se puede vivir, retirarse y dedicarse a otra cosa. Por ahora, no me lo puedo imaginar», apuntó.
El líder bielorruso dio por hecho que se reformará la Constitución por medio de un referéndum, tras reconocer que la actual Carta Magna es «autoritaria», y que parte del poder se cederá al Legislativo.
«Habrá un nuevo presidente. Eso está claro. Pero no se puede traspasar esta Constitución, que realmente es autoritaria, al presidente que venga. Y es que no se sabe quién será y cómo se comportará», dijo.
También admitió que fue él quien ordenó reprimir «sin disparos» las protestas antigubernamentales que estallaron tras su reelección en los comicios presidenciales del 9 de agosto de 2020 y negó torturas a los miles de detenidos en el último año.
